Okay, for this review, we will be reviewing one of Melanie's main songs. The title of this song (I'm sure you can guess) is called Carousel. This song, just like the last one, is very metaphorical and tells a story within its actual meaning.
This song expresses a story of love (because what else is there to write a song about?). The lyrics of the song describe a carousel because it goes around and around in circles, just as the days of our lives. In case you've never had a childhood, carousels usually have animals (horses were usually the most used) and they "chased" each other. Melanie uses this object because the horses neither fall back, or move any faster than the others, she also is describing how "her horse" can't catch up the the "horse" or person she loves.
Unlike most artists Melanie can be easily misunderstood, unless you are constantly reciting and thinking about song lyrics, it can be very easy to misinterpret her story or her metaphors. So, I just want to make it clear that she is not, in fact, singing about riding a carousel just for fun.
If you think about it, most songs do have a deeper meaning or have a collection of metaphors that you would need to understand for the song to make sense. Anyway, thats all for now, thanks for reading and I hope to see you back here!
